Lasonil® Tablets: Indications, Dosage and Price

Lasonil® tablets is a medicinal product distributed in Italy by the pharmaceutical company Bayer. Its active ingredient, naproxen sodium , is useful for the treatment of painful and inflammatory states in general of a rheumatic or traumatic nature.

How does it work?

Lasonil® tablets is a drug belonging to the category of anti- inflammatory and anti-rheumatic. It acts against pain and its elimination occurs mainly via the urine, almost 90% of the drug is excreted from the body within 24 hours.

Lasonil® tablets is a medicinal preparation which acts thanks to naproxen sodium against muscular and rheumatic pain and against pain in general.

Posology and Method of Use

The methods and quantities of intake recommended for Lasonil® tablets are as follows. The medicine must always and only be taken following the doctor’s instructions or as reported in the package leaflet.

The recommended dose of the drug for the symptomatic treatment of pain in adults is one tablet every 8/12 hours, for no more than a week. For the treatment of colds, one tablet is recommended every 8/12 hours, for a period of no more than three days. For shock therapy you can start with two tablets followed by administration of one tablet every 12 hours. The maximum recommended daily dose is three tablets.

The drug should be taken on a full stomach. The film-coated tablet should be swallowed whole and with the help of a glass of water. Do not exceed the recommended doses and the maximum duration of treatment without first seeking medical advice.

The minimum effective dosage should be used in the elderly, especially in those suffering from renal insufficiency, with hepatic insufficiency or heart insufficiency, a reduction in dosage is recommended to be evaluated together with the doctor.

Overdose

In the event of an overdose , notify your doctor or the nearest hospital immediately. The signs of an overdose are dizziness, stomach ache, nausea and vomiting, renal dysfunction, metabolic acidosis, heartburn, lethargy, indigestion, transient changes in liver function, decreased prothrombin in the blood, disorientation and apnoea.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant , suspect you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, you should consult your doctor before taking any medication. Do not take any medications during pregnancy without first consulting your doctor.

During the breastfeeding period , no medication should be taken before seeking medical advice. The medicine can pass into breast milk and cause problems for the baby, therefore you should not take Lasonil® tablets during the breastfeeding period.

This medicinal product may interfere with fertility, but the effect is reversible and wears off when treatment is stopped. For any doubts about the use of the drug during pregnancy or breastfeeding, it is advisable to seek the advice of the doctor.

Contraindications

The use of naproxen sodium is not recommended in cases of hypersensitivity to the same, as well as in cases of hypersensitivity to the excipients contained in the drug. The excipients contained in the drug are microcrystalline cellulose, talc, magnesium stearate and povidone K 30. In the film coating the excipients are Opadry Blue YS 1-4215.

The drug is contraindicated if the patient has suffered from allergic-type reactions in the past following the administration of acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAID drugs.

The drug is contraindicated if the patient suffers from cirrhosis of the liver or severe form of hepatitis. If you are on diuretic therapy, the drug is contraindicated. If the patient is currently bleeding or is at risk of bleeding, if he suffers from gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer, the drug is contraindicated.

Interactions with other drugs

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, are taking or have recently taken any other medicines. The drug should not be taken in combination with other medicines based on naproxen sodium or acetylsalicylic acid. It should not be taken with other painkillers, with other anti-inflammatory or antipyretic drugs.

The medicine may increase the effect of anticoagulants such as warfarin. The drug interacts with cyclosporine increasing the risk of toxicity to the kidneys. Lasonil® tablets interacts with lithium and can cause nausea, increased thirst and the amount of urine, mental confusion and tremor.

The drug interacts with antiplatelet agents and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Naproxen sodium interferes with a variety of urinalysis tests such as 5-indoleacetic acid and 17-ketosteroid tests .

Lasonil® tablets can cause drowsiness, dizziness and dizziness and cause insomnia, for these reasons it can impair the ability to drive and use machines.

Side effects

The drug can also cause edema, heart failure and hypertension. Bullous reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis have rarely occurred. Common side effects  that may affect up to 1 in 10 people are: dizziness, headache, indigestion, heartburn , stomach ache.

Uncommon side effects  which may affect up to 1 in 100 people are: profound drowsiness, dizziness, insomnia, diarrhoea, vomiting, hives, constipation.

Rare side effects which may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people are: increased or decreased blood sugar levels, peptic ulcer, fast heart beat, black stools, swelling, muscle weakness, kidney inflammation, fever .

If the patient notices even a single side effect not listed on the package leaflet, he must consult the doctor or pharmacist who will be responsible for reporting the hitherto unknown symptoms to the reporting system of the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA).

Do not use the drug after the expiry date  which can be read on the package. The expiry date refers to the product correctly stored and in the original packaging.

It is also advisable to keep the medicine in the original packaging and to keep it away from sources of light and/or direct heat. Do not use the drug if the packaging appears to have been tampered with and/or damaged or if the appearance of the drug appears changed.
