Mannocist D®: Price, Dosage and Opinions

Mannocist D®  is a food supplement based on D-Mannose , a particular sugar which is capable of inhibiting the adhesion of the bacteria which cause the various urinary tract infections at the level of the urethral and bladder epithelium.

It can help promote the elimination of bacteria in the urine and also reduce the occurrence of recurring infections such as cystitis. D-Mannose can be used both against acute urinary tract infections and to counteract recurrences.

The concomitant use of Mannocist D® together with antibiotics and antimicrobials can increase its functionality and the patient’s response to therapy, promoting faster healing.

How much?

Only one formulation of this product is available in pharmacies: Mannocist D® 1.5 g sachets in packs of 20 sachets. The retail price of this product is 26.00 euros.

What’s in it?

This supplement, as we said at the beginning, contains D-Mannose .

It is a simple sugar, or a hexose monosaccharide which is extracted from larch wood or birch wood and is highly safe to use. The substance is poorly absorbed by our body and is eliminated with urine or faeces.

D-Mannose works by preventing the adhesion of bacteria, in particular Escherichia coli , to the walls of the urethra and bladder. The bacteria bind with the D-Mannose molecules in the urine and are excreted with it.

Why is it important to take the supplement?

The product can counteract UTIs or urinary tract infections ( Urinary Tract Infection ) and can be used as an alternative or as a support to antibiotic and antimicrobial therapies.

The product should not be used as a substitute for a varied and healthy diet. It is advisable to drink plenty of water during therapy with Mannocist D® in order to facilitate the expulsion of bacteria and avoid the reappearance of urinary infections.

Dosage: how is it taken?

It is recommended to adhere to the following dosage for the use of  Mannocist D®. In the acute and attack phase, one sachet in the morning and one in the afternoon is recommended for a period of 3 days. The intake must take place on an empty stomach and bladder.

For the maintenance phase it is recommended to take one sachet in the morning on an empty stomach and empty bladder until the symptoms disappear. If the cystitis originates after sexual intercourse it is advisable to take one sachet after intercourse and 2 sachets during the following 24 hours, always following the methods described in this paragraph.

It is recommended to take the product in half a glass of water where the contents of the sachet will be dissolved. It is advisable not to drink or eat for about forty minutes, but during the rest of the day it is advisable to drink plenty of water to help eliminate bacteria in the urine.

For any doubts about the dosage of the product, it is advisable to seek the advice of your doctor or trusted pharmacist.

Mannocist D®: Does it work? Opinions

The use of D-mannose in the treatment of urinary infections is an effective strategy to interfere with the processes of bacterial adhesion and proliferation in the urethra and bladder. In fact, this sugar has a high affinity for many bacterial species, in particular Escherichia coli.

The opinions of those who have had the opportunity to use it are very positive, especially if this product is associated with antibiotic therapy with the advantage of reducing the doses and time of taking the latter.
