The prostate is a gland that is part of the male genital system, which must be checked periodically, as it can be subject to numerous problems, more or less serious, including prostatitis. In addition to the recommended medical visits, there are supplements designed specifically for the treatment and prevention of diseases and disorders related to the prostate gland, among which we find Prostanox® .
In today’s guide we will talk about this product, where together we will see the composition of the tablets, its use and the benefits or any side effects that may derive from its intake.
Read on to learn more about this product, whether it works and how much it costs.
How much does Prostanox® cost?
This supplement is marketed in a package containing a blister of 30 tablets. Normally the cost is 34.90 euros, but it is often possible to find it discounted at around 30 euros, depending on the promotions available at the moment, so it is good to keep an eye on the offers.
Why take this supplement?
Prostanox® is indicated, as we mentioned at the beginning, for the treatment of inflammation of the prostate, thanks to the presence of Serenoa repens .
Prostatitis is a disease that must be diagnosed by a urologist , who can recommend the best strategies to adopt for the treatment and prevention of the infection which, if not adequately diagnosed, can be difficult to cure.
In particular, we can find two types, let’s see which ones.
In prostatitis
This represents an inflammation of the prostate that is caused by bacteria. A considerable percentage of men (10%) contracts it at least once in their life, and, if associated, also with advanced age. This condition can often be associated with another problem, namely benign prostatic hypertrophy (IBP).
This type of infection arises in principle due to sexual intercourse, following which the germs travel up the urethra, localizing in the prostate. These are usually germs that can come from the last intestinal tract (the rectum) and that can be contracted both directly and through diffusion through the lymphatic vessels.
Prostatitis can in turn be acute, if it occurs suddenly: in this case the symptoms explode, causing high fever, widespread malaise accompanied by twinges and pain in the perineal or lumbar region.
Furthermore, the urine can be cloudy and sometimes accompanied by the presence of pus, as well as being expelled with difficulty and burning or excessively frequently, both during the day and at night.
These symptoms can either be sudden or appear gradually, but are difficult to eradicate.
Prostatosis
Prostatosis , on the other hand, is a type of inflammation that does not involve a bacterial-type infection in the prostate, although it causes urinary and genital symptoms.
This condition is mostly caused by attitudes and lifestyle, such as trauma to the pelvic region following the use of a bicycle, hemorrhoids or constipation.
Now that we have seen when to use this supplement, let’s see what ingredients it contains.
What does Prostanox® contain?
Prostanox® 30 Tablets contains:
- Serenoa Repens : it is a plant particularly rich in fatty acids and phytosterols, which are important in controlling the onset and in the treatment of symptoms related to prostatic hypertrophy. In fact, this plant has an antiandrogenic, anti-inflammatory and antiproliferative action against germs and bacteria. It also helps reduce urinary tract obstruction, making it easier to empty the bladder;
- Nettle : this plant has a diuretic action which makes it known in the field of phytotherapy. Furthermore, it exerts anti-inflammatory actions which are particularly appreciated in the treatment of painful syndromes of the periarticular, musculotendinous and osteoarticular tissues;
- Berberis vulgaris : this plant boasts among its properties that of being able to favor the regularity of intestinal transit, which, as we have seen, can affect the state of health of the prostate;
- Cranberry extract : promotes urinary tract functionality and has the ability to prevent bacteria from adhering to the urinary tract mucosa, protecting it from infections;
- Turmeric extract: known plant with antioxidant action;
- D-Mannose : This simple sugar is extracted from larch and birch wood. It is metabolized with difficulty in the liver, and then reaches the kidneys and excreted through the urinary tract where it reaches high concentrations. This sugar performs a positive action against bacterial proliferation;
- Magnesium bisglycinate : this is a highly bioavailable form of the mineral that contributes to normal muscle function;
- Boswellia: this plant has a contrasting action against localized states of tension.
How is it assumed?
The recommended dosage of this product is 2 tablets a day, preferably with an empty bladder, accompanied by a full glass of water. Since Serenoa extract may be irritating to the stomach, it is recommended to take the product with food.
Side effects
Prostanox® is a supplement and not a drug, so any side effects can be very mild and not worrying. However, in very rare cases, episodes of nausea may occur , making it advisable to take the tablets with meals.
In detail, Serenoa repens , an important element of the supplement, could cause:
- He retched;
- constipation;
- diarrhea;
- widespread itching on the body;
- increased blood pressure;
- headache;
- decreased libido and desire in general.
These are very rare eventualities for which it is still necessary to seek medical advice.
As far as the side effects of Boswellia are concerned , there are no known contraindications in taking this plant: no episodes of allergies have been recorded and therefore the only concern could be that linked to the interaction with other drugs: for any doubt in this regard, it is need to consult a doctor.
Prostanox®: efficacy. Works?
We conclude the guide by examining the opinions of those who have used this product to treat inflammation of the prostate.
The ingredients of which it is made are natural and used for centuries in traditional medicine for their effectiveness in the treatment of these and other problems: this tradition has also been confirmed by more recent studies, which have validated the effectiveness of these natural ingredients in treatment of prostatitis.
Therefore, and opinions are positive, even if, I always remember, it is essential to always ask the doctor’s opinion and never underestimate the seriousness of a urinary tract infection, which can become chronic and/or make urination difficult and painful.
Neglecting these symptoms can lead to other problems arising, such as cystitis and other urinary tract infections, bladder and urinary stones, and kidney problems.
