Trosyd® Cream, Nail Polish and Spray: Price and Indications

Trosyd® is a medicine produced and distributed in Italy by the pharmaceutical company Giuliani SpA, which owes its action to tioconazole , an active ingredient which is specifically indicated for the treatment of fungal infections of various kinds.

Trosyd® is recommended for cases of dermatomycosis with dermatophytes, fungi and yeasts or against skin infections caused by fungi sensitive to the active ingredient tioconazole.

The antifungal activity is also useful against mixed skin infections.

It is therefore a topical antifungal drug that is used for the treatment of infections caused by skin fungi. If you have any doubts about the indications of the drug, it is advisable to consult your doctor.

Below are the various forms of  Trosyd® available on the market:

  • Trosyd® 1% skin emulsion in 30 g bottle: price 8.10 euros;
  • Trosyd® 1% dermatological cream in 30 g bottle: price 8.10 euros;
  • Trosyd® 1% skin powder in 30 g bottle: price 8.10 euros;
  • Trosyd® 28% nail solution in 12 mL bottle: price 29.50 euros.

How does it work?

Trosyd® is a medicine that belongs to the category of antifungal drugs . It is a potent broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal with fungicidal activity against yeasts such as Candida albicans and other types of candida, and pathogenic dermatophytes.

Trosyd® is a medicine that bases its action on tioconazole, the active ingredient that acts against mycoses of various kinds. Dermal application of the drug does not result in significant absorption.

Posology and Method of Use

For Trosyd® in cream , powder and skin emulsion, the product must be applied to the affected skin and to the surrounding one, by means of a massage. The cream should be applied twice a day, preferably in the morning and evening. The duration of treatment varies from patient to patient and according to the type of pathology.

Generally, one week of treatment is sufficient for healing or remission of symptoms, while for athlete’s foot it may take up to two months.

The skin solution should be applied as a normal liquid detergent, rinsed with water waiting for a few minutes. The quantity of solution to be used must be evaluated in relation to the skin surface on which the drug must act.

The cutaneous solution for nail use  ( enamel ) should be applied to the infected nail and in the periungual area twice a day, preferably in the morning and evening, using the appropriate brush. The duration of therapy varies from patient to patient and generally lasts up to 6 months, often even beyond a year.

The nail solution dries in 5 minutes and leaves a thin film which, even if removed, does not diminish the action of the drug. Do not use an occlusive dressing.

Overdose

There is no information relating to an overdose of Trosyd® . Although an overdose is very rare, we still recommend that you scrupulously follow the instructions of your doctor or pharmacist and pay attention to the instructions on the package leaflet. Following the directions on the medicine greatly reduces the risk of overdose.

Can it be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Can Trosyd® be taken during pregnancy ? And while breastfeeding? For the use of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding, seek the advice of your doctor. The drug is absorbed in a limited way, but this does not guarantee its total safety.

If you are pregnant , think you may be pregnant or plan to become pregnant, you should seek your doctor’s advice before starting to take this medicinal product.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, no medicines of any kind, including supplements, should be used without first seeking the advice of your doctor.

Even common over-the-counter drugs generally considered harmless could cause serious damage to the fetus or infant. For any doubts relating to the Trosyd® drug and its use in pregnancy and breastfeeding, it is advisable to ask your doctor for help.

Contraindications

The use of Trosyd® is contraindicated in the case of overt hypersensitivity to Tioconazole  or to any of the excipients present in the drug.

The excipients of the drug are:

  • Trosyd® cream : polysorbate 60, cetostearyl alcohol, 2-octyldodecanol, sorbitan monostearate, cetyl ester wax, benzyl alcohol, purified water;
  • Trosyd® skin powder : magnesium myristate, kaolin, talc, precipitated silica;
  • Trosyd® skin emulsion : cetyl alcohol, cetylstearyl alcohol, emulsifying wax, coconut oil, glyceryl stearate and palmitate, benzyl alcohol, purified water, propylene glycol;
  • Trosyd® nail solution : undecylenic acid, ethyl acetate.

There are no further contraindications to report relating to the drug  Trosyd® . For any doubts about possible contraindications relating to the drug, it is advisable to consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Interaction with other drugs

There are currently no known interactions to report associated with the drug  Trosyd® . However, we recommend that you consult your doctor if you are taking, will be taking or have recently taken any other medicines together with Trosyd®. If you have any doubts about possible drug interactions, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Side effects

Excluding hypersensitivity reactions, only rare cases of mild transient local irritation have been reported. There are no other side effects to report associated with taking the drug.

If the patient notices side effects not listed in the leaflet, he must notify the doctor or pharmacist and fill out the form for reporting side effects.
